Recently received an
email from a board member of the Hampton Roads, VA SHRM Chapter asking about my
interest in submitting proposals to speak both at their local chapter meeting
and at the state-wide SHRM Conference.
Definitely an offer I couldn’t refuse!
Thought you might be interested in the programs; all are concerned with

1. Are You Being Heard…or Just Mostly Making Noise? Keys to Captivating an Audience – for the

that helps lead individual, teams, and the organization as a whole through
adversity with resilience and tenacity
2. Be a more compelling communicator by grasping: a) “The New KISS – Keep It Short &
Smart,” b) the “Power of Surprise,” and c) “Stand Out, Don’t Just Be
Outstanding” for demonstrating agility and expertise in leading organizational
initiatives or supporting the initiatives of others.
3. Understand the process
of “letting go to “letting flow,” whether by:
a) “letting go” of and defusing power struggles by asking “good
questions” and building trust, thereby helping set the vision for HR
initiatives and building buy-in from internal and external stakeholders; and b)
in a group exercise discovering the “Five Steps of Creative Risk-Taking” for being
a courageous role-model and developing solutions to overcome potential
obstacles to successful implementation of initiatives
4. Grasp and work with the
Stress Doc’s acclaimed “Five ‘P’ Model of Passion Power” – being a compelling
communicator and transformative leader by integrating (and role-modeling) being

Mark Gorkin, aka
"The Stress Doc," was a recent presenter at the Eastern Region IPMA
annual training and development forum (Jun 2015). He led the participants
on a passionate and creative ride through the topic, "Leading with Passion."
His unique training style was full of surprises and encouraged the participants
to "go for it." Mark was very interactive and he provided
